Tumbleweeds - June 2,3,4 Presidents Surprise Campout, Crouch Idaho

Tumbleweeds:
Our trip to Rattlesnake Flats (as we call it) known as Snowmobile Parking Lot north of Crouch is June 2, 3, 4th. Rattlesnake Flats is a “primitive” camp area located about 9.5 miles north on S Middlefork Rd. off of the Banks-Lowman Highway west of Banks off Route 55 North. The S. Middlefork Rd becomes Middlefork Rd a couple of miles in and the site is on the left about .8 miles from the end of the pavement road on the gravel road. The location has no organized sites, you pretty much park where you want, we’ll try and secure the north end under the trees. At our pot luck get-together on Saturday night we will be supplying chicken for the meat. So bring some rolls, side dishes or desert to share for Saturday dinner. We have come to enjoy these types of meals at the Tumbleweeds gatherings because there isn’t a bad cook in the bunch (and that includes many of the men).

Directions are as follows:
1.     Head North on Highway 55 from Idaho 55 & E State St. in Eagle
2.    After 33.6 Miles Turn right onto Banks-Lowman Rd
3.    After 8.3 Miles Turn left onto S. Middlefork Rd. in Crouch.
4.    After 9.5 Miles Turn left onto Rattlesnake Flats.
Please note there is a Rattlesnake Campground further north but it’s not the one we are going to.

I will plant signs along the route at appropriate spots.

There is the Silver creek Plunge, a hot springs resort about 15 miles north. We are also right across from the Middlefork of the Payette River for floating with a put in-take out spot just down the road, the water should be running high still. Always good fishing and a gun range in Garden valley on the Lowman-banks highway. A few hundred yards down the road is Tie Creek campground with water, pump style and a vault toilet. There is also good jeep. UTV and ATV trails about for those wanting to adventure out. Saturday at 10:00 AM is a farmer market in Crouch plus the Starlight Mountain Theater from 8-10 PM with 7 Brides for 6 Brothers Friday and Saturday night. There is also the golf at Terrace Lakes Resort with a heated pool and restaurant.

Hope to see you there.

Please RSVP to the above email address or call us at 208-794-6393.
Mark and Emma

A reminder we have a couple of campouts planned that require reservations, Castle Rock and Three Island Crossing, get your reservations made.

Bully Creek campout -- April 28-29-30

HELLO FRIENDS!!
Our next camp-out will be at Bully Creek Reservoir 10 miles West of Vale, OR on April 28, 29, 30, 2017.

Dinner Sat. night will be at the Starlite Cafe in Vale at 6:00 P. M. for anyone unable to make the camp-out, but wanting to enjoy a delicious dinner with us. I have reserved 5 sites for us, but if you have a site you prefer that is not on the list, feel free to reserve it. Be sure when you make your reservation to tell them you are with Tumbleweeds. The reserved sites I held are 3, 5, 6, 10, 11. Site #4 where the canopy was could be used by our group, if construction equipment is not there. The canopy partly collapsed due to the snow last winter and they hope to either have it fully rebuilt or be working on rebuilding during our camp-out. Dennis and I have reserved site ll. The phone number for reservations is 541-473-2969.

Bully Creek has power and a dump station available. Water is centrally located and should just be used to fill your tank. There are nice restrooms with showers for camping users. We hope the weather is good enough for a campfire Fri. and Sat., so if you have firewood to bring it will be appreciated.

DIRECTIONS:
From Vale, OR, proceed down the country road approximately 9 miles, turn right and follow road to check-in office and park. There are signs showing directions in Vale and we will put up our Tumbleweeds signs.

-We look forward to seeing everyone there. Please RSVP to 631-4435 or 345-4541.

Three Island Crossing -- not too early to make reservations.

Aaaannnnnddddd .... we're off!!

Camping Season 2017 has officially begun for the Tumbleweeds!

The first campout of the season was at Snake River RV Park in Homedale with hosts Rita & Jim who want to say THANK YOU to all those folks who braved the cold, wet weather to join us for this campout.

The sun snuck out every now and then on Friday and Saturday -- along with intermittent rain.

We snagged a warm. dry spot for dinner. After dinner, a meeting and much catching up on winter activities and family happenings.

A little after dinner dessert. S'more are NOT just for the kids! 😉

Sunday dawned with a beautiful, sunny day which reminded us all why we love to camp.

Roy and Rosemary left early so we didn't get a pic of Roy's new rig, but come see it at the next campout. It's quite a beauty.

First campout - April 7-8-9 - Snake River RV Resort

To the Tumbleweeds:

After an interesting drive on Saturday and seeing quite a few patches of snow all over Farewell Bend campgrounds, Jim and I have ruled that one out for the first campout of the year. It was also about 10 degrees colder up there and I don't think that would make for a pleasant weekend.

We stopped by Snake River RV Resort in Homedale on the way back and really liked the place. It's only about an hour's drive for you Boise folks (about 45 minutes for us and the McDonnell's in Nampa!) and it was quite lovely. Right on the Snake River, the grass is green; there is a covered and almost enclosed Pavilion looking over the river which will be perfect for dinner; and Dave, the owner, likes the Tumbleweeds -- as long as he only has to deal withONE person! (Guess that's me!)

I have attached a flyer with all the info from the Snake River RV Resort in Homedale and some recreational ideas too. We'll be in Sites 22-31, depending on how many want to join us.

Please DO NOT call direct for reservations. Let me know if you are attending the campout.

The price is $27 if I make the reservations, $30 if YOU call; also to have the $150 Pavilion Reservation fee waived, we need to reserve as a group. The sites have water, electric, and sewer. I will send Dave a list of members coming on what days next Monday

By Monday, March 26th, I need to know which days you will be camping and how many people in your party (adults, kids, pets, etc). Also, do you NEED 50 amp service or is 30 amp okay?
  • Thursday, April 6
  • Friday, April 7
  • SaturdayApril 8
  • SundayApril 9
  • Monday, April 10
Snake River RV prefers cash or check, but for an extra $2.00 convenience fee, you can use a credit card. You pay when you arrive.

Dinner will be shredded beef sandwiches with sides, salads, and desserts provided by other members.

If you can't make it for the weekend, please come join us for dinner. We'll probably eat about 5:30-6:00 pm, depending on the weather. Let me know if you are coming just for dinner so we can plan for enough food.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on April 7th. Everyone is to concentrate on GOOD WEATHER!!!

Thanks, your wagon-masters,
Rita & Jim

Contact Rita at RitaA53@gmail.com to confirm reservation.
