Update on the Good Sam Organization

Sharing this note which came from Cathie Mickelsen, Idaho Good Sam Director:

Notes on Good Sam International.
1. Good Sam organization (club) will not be disbanded and will move forward. I am excited about the changes that are being made.
2. There will be new changes in what is expected from all state directors.
3. There will no longer be national rallies sponsored by Camping World.
4. There are going be a monthly video conference for all state directors. This gives us a chance to gather new ideas and to solve the problems all states face. I would really appreciate hearing all ideas and concerns that you have. Idaho needs a voice in making changes so we can have what is best for our organization. All concerns need to be heard, however please bring a solution with the concern.

As for Idaho Good Sam we will be holding a State Director election in the fall.  Check the August newsletter for election details. This is good news for Idaho and I hope you are as excited as I am.

Stay safe and healthy,
Cathie

RESERVATIONS:
Only 18 days until our next camping trip. We'll be at Huckleberry Campground on the backside of Lake Cascade. We had to make these reservations 9 months ago and it sure seems like it took forever to get here.

For those of you who don't have reservations, I just checked the RESERVEAMERICA.COM website and don't see anything for that weekend at any of the campgrounds on Lake Cascade. Rainbow Point which is part of the Bosie National Forest has some "first come first served" sites that weekend if you want to come and check it out (www.recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/232087). Also, there are private campgrounds in Cascade, Donnelly and McCall which might have some sites available. FYI: Believe it or not, there are lots of weekday sites available at the primitive campgrounds at Lake Cascade for the next few weeks. That's unheard of this time of year.

DIRECTIONS:
From Boise, take Hwy 55 north to Donnelly. Turn left at the Sinclair station, going towards Tamarack Resort. Continue on that road around to the backside of the lake -- about 12-15 miles. Turn left onto West Mountain Road.

Huckleberry is the 3rd campground as you come down West Mountain Road (the first two belong to the BLM -- Amanita and Rainbow Point).

FOOD:
We'll be gathering on Friday night for appetizers about 6:30 pm so bring something fun to share with all.

Saturday's dinner will again be about 6:30 pm and the main course will be ham and cheese sliders. We'll need to add salads, fruit, watermelon, beans, desserts, etc.  to the menu so bring something for all to enjoy. The folks from the Cascade clubs may be joining us since some of our group will be going ATVing with them on Saturday. Information on the ATV rides will be coming from Rosemary so check with her if you are interested. rosemaryzimbelman@gmail.com

We'll be gathering at our site #93. I think there is some good space around our campsite. BUT we'll probably need some tables for buffet and dining as well as chairs for both nights. Also it looks like we have some trees for shade.

Let me know if you have questions. Looking forward to seeing everyone there!

Rita
