TUMBLEWEEDS UPDATE for upcoming season

First, thank you to all who attended the Planning meeting. It was a very productive meeting and we enjoyed taking a few minutes to get to know each other.

We have a couple of new members signup -- Welcome to Tom & Kit Bielawski, Bonnie & Dennis Bowers, Mae Engelhart, and Le & Carla Hult. We are now up to 21 new members and waiting on one more (Ted & Dani Renk). That's a lot of Tumbleweeds! ðŸ˜Š

Second, my apologies for my tardiness in getting this information out to you. Time just plain got away from me.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Attached you will find updated files for the Tumbleweeds Boise Good Sam chapter.
  • Minutes from November 6th Planning meeting
  • Membership roster
  • Camping 2022 schedule
  • Text file to use when sending out emails to all the members
  • Wagon Master Duties

UPCOMING CAMPING SCHEDULE
We have two dates available for wagonmasters/hosts for the 2022 season -- April 1-3 and May 13-15. If you are interested in playing wagonmaster, please let me know. You don't need a location just yet -- just a commitment to host the campout. NOTE TO NEWBIES -- all the "seasoned" members will be happy to help you out with your duties as wagonmaster. It's not really hard -- just takes a little bit of time.

Where can you find campgrounds? A good place is Idaho Campground Review
Sort by region > Southwestern Idaho
Although Sawtooth Mountain and South Central could work too.

WHEN DO WE MEET AGAIN?
The next campout/meeting will be Saturday, March 12th at noon. Outback Steakhouse on Overland in Boise.

Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions and if you'd like to host a campout.

Everyone have a Happy Thanksgiving. We are looking forward to some good times next year!

Reminder: You can find out information on the Tumbleweeds Boise at www.TumbleweedsBoise.com

INFORMATION ON THREE ISLAND CROSSING
Modern travelers will find a stay at Three Island Crossing much more hospitable than did the 19th century Oregon Trail pioneers who crossed the mighty Snake River at this location. Located just two miles off Interstate 84 at the Glenns Ferry exit, the park offers a campground with water and electrical service, eight cabins, picnic areas, historical interpretive programs and a fascinating admission-free interpretive center.

The park is a convenient rest stop for highway travelers looking for a place to camp as well as for golf enthusiasts looking to play a round or two at Carmela Winery & Golf Course located less than 500 yards from the park. Visitors are often surprised to find soft grass and shady trees in this high desert area.

Take a self-guided tour of the park and see the original wagon ruts and Conestoga replicas. Visit the Oregon Trail History and Education Center to learn more about pioneers, early settlers and Native American history. Dangle your feet or a line in the Snake River where emigrants made their historic crossings. Or sit under a tree and enjoy a picnic lunch.

Oregon Trail History Center: 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday-Saturday. Closed Sunday, Monday and holidays.

Three Island Crossing's disc golf course sits along the Snake River, featuring 18 baskets that present players with varying degrees of difficulty. It challenges the beginning golfer and the experienced player alike. Discs are available for purchase at the Oregon Trail History and Education Center.

FOR THOSE OF YOU WITH ATVS/UTVS
All boats, trailers, or other motorized vehicles must fit entirely within the campsite parking spur provided. Any equipment that does not fit entirely within the sites designated parking area must be parked outside the campground in an area designated by the park manager.

All campsite and facility use fees accommodate one (1) vehicle MVEF per night. Any additional MVEF (Motor Vehicle Entry Fee) and per person charges will be collected at the park. MVEF may be paid for at the daily rate or by purchasing a State Park Passport or an Annual Motor Vehicle Entrance Fee sticker.

Let me know if you have any questions. If you are unable to attend and need to cancel, please let me know before you cancel your reservations. There are several folks who want to attend but have been unable to get reservations. Thanks.

See you at Three Island Crossing!
